We need to locate the original of the ...

newspaper article mentioned by A. H. Macmillan that claimed that Russell and his associates were on the sixth street bridge on passover day 1878. Anyone?

I have checked the Pittsburgh Commercial Gazette for April 18-20, 1878 and found nothing. (Passover day was April 18 that year).

However, Macmillan's book has Macmillan telling CTR about the newspaper reports, and CTR "laughing heartily" at the suggestion. Where would Macmillan have got the story from? He didn't live anywhere near CTR, but was born in Canada and only came into contact with CTR in the 1890s according to his life story.

I am sure that Macmillan believed his own account, written when about 80, but words like "hearsay" come to mind on this one.

Unless Ton or someone else comes up with the clipping of course.

The article would have been published in 1901 or after and in Pittsburgh. We accept that there was probably such an article. We don't accept its accuracy. It's made up of events from the Millerite era (being on the bridge) and the White Robes slander. Nothing in it is accurate. Still, we would like to see it if possible.
