Useful purpose ...

Without engagement from blog readers, this site serves no useful purpose. We will no longer publish research for volume 2 here, but will share it with a couple of informed fellow researchers. If you do not comment here, you will not find a place on the mailing list.

This blog will not die. But it won't present the meat of our research, only side issues or requests for research help.

Posting long, complex research is time consuming, sometimes difficult. Those posts are not appreciated, seemingly not wanted. If they were appreciated, we'd get a comment from you. We don't. I'm not wasting my time presenting that kind of material.

Jerome has several articles in preparation that you will find interesting. Watch for them. That kind of article will continue to appear and so will interesting illustrations. The complex material is going away.

Obviously you and Bruce must decide what is posted here. But I would argue that there is a place for detailed research - you never know who may read it here and take an interest and provide something useful. While that may not happen very often, it will not happen at all unless research is posted. As to the time and effort involved, if it is something that is written for a future volume anyway, then the time and effort is not wasted - it is just given a preview and perhaps an edit and polish later. But your detailed previews of material, along with specific requests for help, make this a scholarly blog, not just a hobby blog.

I am 100% sure that your articles are appreciated by far more readers than you realise. Many, like myself, have only a minimal knowledge of the details you specialise in, so are limited in the extent to which we can comfortably comment. Too often therefore, we sit back and admire rather than joining in the discussion.
It can be frustrating if a researcher doesn't get much recognition for their hard work. But if you measure your success on a long term scale and include a few individuals you inspire along the way you will take much satisfaction in your accomplishment.

With many thanks for what you do,
Son of Ton

You know, all Informations and photos I have, I submit. But most of the time I can't do anything for the actual research, although I want. If I write no comment, this doesn't mean that the stuff is in interesting for me.It is always great, equal who posted something.

I totally agree with the above comments. I regularly read everything you post. I´m very thanksful for the information - such kind of information you would get nowhere else. Thank you for your hard work. I´m looking forward to the entire book. Love, German Girl

Agreed, more acknowledgment of this detailed research is definitely in order. Frankly, some of it just leaves me stunned - information I had no idea was available out there, and still have no idea how you were able to access!

I hope to be one of those whom Jerome mentioned - who occasionally see something to which they can add information; or at least have our imagination stimulated to do our own research, each within our own (however limited) sphere.

Thanks again for the light you have shed on the development of Separate Identity.

I regularly check this blog and enjoy its contents. I've expressed my appreciation quite often, but there's little else I can do to help.

Rachael, Bruce, and Jerome, you are my teachers. In my mind I want to be like you; one day I'll be like you. I steal every single drop of your methods. Thanks for everything.
