From Bernard

Dear Rachael!

I will clearify something from an older blog post. It’s from December 29, 2014, “A letter to Maria” which mentioned a sister J. Vero, and in your comment you say this could be the wife of Joseph Vero (Wt 1906).

I researched the Koetitz family and can tell you this: Sister J. Vero is Jennie (Jenny) Vero (see in later Wt, where her full name is found). Jennie Vero married Albert Otto Koetitz. The Joseph Vero mentioned in 1906 was Jennie's brother. So this was not a couple, but brother and sister.

So many thanks for all and nice to see your new article about Storrs.

Thanks, Bernard. Is this the same man as the "Otto A. Kötitz" mentioned in the 1974 Yearbook, pages 67, 76-77, 80, and 81-82?

To Andrew:
Yes it is the same Koetitz/Kötitz. He was a director of the WTS and later the 2nd branch overseer from Germany. He traveled with Russell in April 1910 to Jerusalem. There exist a nice photo: Kötitz beside Russell, Rutherfotd in front of them and Pierson left beside. To find in Watchtower.

Thank you, Bernhard, for the confirmation. I remember the photo taken on the Mount of Olives. Is the small boy in the photo perhaps Malcom Rutherford with his mother?

Also, is Mrs. Kötitz perhaps in the photo?

Hello again, Bernhard.

I need to retract my question about the boy in the photo. If it was indeed taken in 1910, it could not be Malcom Rutherford, because he was born in 1892, which would have made him 18 years old at the time.

Thanks again, though, for fielding our questions on Otto and Jennie Kötitz.

The young boy is the son from Br. and Sr. Ward. Jennie Koetitz had not traveled with Otto A., because they had some children. There gives a photo from the Bible House staff from 1902, there is Jennie to see.

Malcom Rutherford's photograph in his late teens can be found in the 1911 convention report. A photograph from a little later can be found in this old blog post:
