“Revered Doctor” Isham Fuller Tanner (1848 – 1923) is quoted in Separate Identity vol. 3. He was active in California late in life. I need some biographical information. Most important is education. What seminary or college awarded him his doctor of divinity degree?
J. F. Rutherford spoke in Pasadena, California in the late teens. When exactly?
Can you help?

I.F. Tanner is in many newspaper reports as a speaker for the Peace League (1914 era) and the No Tobacco League. Several papers say he was ordained but don't say where. He gave talks at numerous churches including the First Christian Church, the Presbyterians, the Universalists, and the Seventh Day Adventists. His Find a Grave entry gives his family and a photograph.
ChatGPT says he was Methodist, but provides no evidence and can find no documentation on the internet on his education anywhere. In the census returns he is (1880) minister, (1890) missing, (1900) farmer, (1910) solicitor.
For J F Rutherford see Pasadena Day Star for 8 February 1815, 23 February 1918, 3 May 1919.
That's 1915 not 1815
Bernard found an obit. He was a Disciples minister. He lectured in many churches other than his own. I still can't trace his supposed education. Reading his writing leads me to suspect his degree was self-assumed. Not uncommon among some clergy.
please forward the February 8, 1915 article.
'Tis done.
