Yet more people to research.

Charles D. Rice, born in Auburn, New York, April 1859. Living in Hartford, Connecticut in 1903. He was married to Anna, maiden name unknown, born in Union Springs, New York. They were married in 1883. The 1920 Federal Census says he was "manager, typewriter works." The 1900 Census calls him a mechanic/engineer. C. D. Rice was still living in 1937. His name is found on a Ship's Passenger List.

A John Barnes hosted A. P. Adams in 1901. This was in Hartford, Connecticut. There are so many John Barnes living in Hartford in 1901 that I cannot firmly identify this man. Can you?

Charles Delos Rice was born 15 April 1859, died 10 September 1939. His entry on Find a Grave gives his photograph.

He married Anna Cornelia Hoaglund (1865-1943) on 25 December 1882.

Her newspaper obituary (as a widow) mentions that Charles had been Vice-President of the Underwood-Elliott-Fisher Company. They had two children. One died as a child, the other, Harriet ‘Edna’ Rice, born 1892, lived until 1970.

Going by suitable ages I was able to thin down the contenders on Ancestry to a possible three for Hartford, Conn.

They are:

John James Barnes (1834-1905). Originally a farmer, in civil war, has photo of line drawing on Find a Grave.

John P Barnes (1861- ?) Railroad man

John J Barnes (1881-after 1930) a hotel proprietor.
