If it helps narrow it down – from the obituary Barbour published for Emeline in Herald of the morning, January-February 1902. Died November 20, 1901. “God gave her to me in 1877”. Buried in Troopville, near Auburn, NY “where my mother and many of my kindred are buried”. ...”I feel as though I only half appreciated her worth while she lived, and not being demonstrative, much of that was unknown to her I fear.”

The Emeline ages 20 is not the right emeline. Emeline Barbour was born - according to her obituary - in 1831.
Emeline's obituary simply states that she was "past three score years and ten" - so her birth date is still a little uncertain. With transcription errors in databases, is there anyone out there (Ton obviously comes to mind) who can check the original newspaper record from New London Record, Ohio, as well as the 1860 census? A close look at the originals might just resolve the discrepancy.
I've contacted the New London Library and they're searching out the Marriage Record. That may help.
Her marriage to Barbour was her second. So we still don't know her maiden name, but this is real progress. The 1831 date appears in Census Records and appears resonably accurate.
There was a clan of Jobes in the New London area and in Cleveland. But I can't connect emeline to them yet.
