Do you know

Do you know who wrote Jehovah's Witnesses in the Divine Purpose?

The author was Harry Peloyan, a member of the NY Bethel family and a Gilead instructor. Another source gives us John Wischuck as author. Since Watchtower books are written by committees, both may be correct.

I used to love the way that Lois or Tom would ask some obscure historical question and instantly John would sort of pull out of his pocket some extremely rare original material to answer it. They must have had a fantastic Ministry School Library in his congregation, the contents of which would be worth millions today on eBay...

When I was a child, that was already an old publication. An elderly sister gave it to me and I was fascinated, specially by the figure of some CT Russell.
I found the dialogue approach very original (I did not know of the Platonic dialogues yet), and I suppose it made the topic easier to read, but I did not like it much.

I had the chance to speak w/ John Wischuk in the last 10 years and asked him pointedly about the Divine Purpose book and whether or not he was the author, he kindly answered that he “wouldn’t be able to say” as the authors for the various publications guard their anonymity. The inflection in his voice and the way he worded his answer led me to personally believe he either wrote it or had a hand in it’s material. I also thought the name “John” for one of the characters was likely another clue. Just personal opinion.

I just spoke with a 'retired' member of the Watchtower's Writing Department today. He stated that it was Ulysses V. Glass who wrote the Divine Purpose book, and that John Wischuk had written a version of the Watchtower Society's history in the 1975 Year Book. I didn't ask, but I think it quite possible that Wischuk might have become associated with the "dp" book based on the work on the 75 yb work Of course, he might have had some involvement with it, but I do very much trust the person who told me that it was Glass who worked on the "dp" book.

If you spoke to Richard P. tell him hello from me next time you speak to him. And thanks for your input.
