Blog visits


We're visited by members of a discussion board supposedly for Jehovah's Witnesses; most of it closed to outsiders. That includes me. I have no intention of joining something like that. But I would like to know what their interest in my writing partner is. She's dead. A continuing, low-level assault on her character and personality continues. I have no clue why. But I think it is disreputable.

My two cents:

For the record. I am a Witness. My contacts with Bruce's writing partner (always through email) were always cordial and productive. She was consistently kind, patient, and taught me a VERY great deal about writing accurate and verifiable history. Sometimes she was very straightforward with her comments to me, but I always appreciated the candor. Why anyone would want to criticize someone who is no longer around to defend herself is beyond me. It certainly is not appropriate for anyone professing to be a Christian.

Like Andrew, I too am grateful for Rachael's helpful emails although, alas, I did not know her beyond this to comment on the many positive aspects of her personality others knew her by. But the two SI volumes certainly stand as a fitting memorial to her research, perceptive mind and powerful writing ability. Thankfully I am not familiar with the chatroom discussions you mention, but any inclined to be critical of Rachael, or indeed anyone, should ponder their own inadequacies first and then contemplate how they might wish to be remembered when they are no longer are with us.
