I cannot see the year 1881, but in 1891 Charles and Maria Russell stayed in the Jerusalem Hotel in Jerusalem.
I would suggest a possibility that it reached Jerusalem via The American Colony, a Utopian, Millenarian community founded in 1881 by Horatio and Anna Spafford of Chicago.
