I must tell you that back in the day when this Song of Praise was sung, the accompanying pianist could only play in waltz time - ie "Oh walk (beat, beat), with God (beat beat) and you will find (beat, beat) etc etc. I often had a mental picture of brothers and sisters waltzing around the Kingdom Hall - and needless to say among some rather irreverent children (not me, of course) the Song was known as 'Oh Waltz With God'.
Back in the day when the first edition green songbook was newish, we had a piano player that could only play one song, Take Sides with Jehovah. We sang that over and over again. Fun memories.
A few decades ago when live piano music was phased out at our meetings, and recorded music was used, the sister who started playing for meetings back in the 1920s was very upset, and asked the elders what would happen if the sound system broke down during the meeting, what would they do? The elders assured her that would never happen. She made it very clear to anyone who would listen that she disagreed with the decision.
A few months later, guess what? The music system was not working one Sunday morning. One of the elders sheepishly asked the older sister if she would play the piano (it was still up in front.) She insisted (loudly) on letting everyone know that she had predicted just such an occurrence, and I have not heard the piano pounded quite as hard either before or since. She had to fill in several times over the years as the sound system was unreliable.
She recently passed away, and I had the privilege of playing the piano at her funeral. I played with her at the meeting for about 10 years starting in the mid 1970s. She played the organ, and I played the piano. Good memories!
Collectors will know there is a rather nice recorded version on a 12 inch 78rpm disc of All Hail done by the Watchtower Male Voice Quartet, with Fred Franz singing.

Yes.
Although my lyrics are the 1950 songbook version.
Mine are from the 1966 songbook (the hot pink one).
:)
Which is why I never allow myself to sing from memory anymore . . . I've caught myself singing lyrics from four songbooks back.

Question for Bruce: Nowadays, can you sing without taking a breath, the "Hai...ai....ai.....ail" sequence in Song One of the green Song Book? :-)
I don't know. Probably. I can hold my breath for a very long time, a skill I acquired in my youth.
